EDUCATION
Shyama brings over 15 years of experience as a Registered Acupuncturist & Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner. After graduating from the University of Victoria with a B.A. in Anthropology & Art History, she went on to pursue a Doctorate in Traditional Chinese Medicine. She graduated from The Canadian College Of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine in Victoria, BC. As part of her training, she completed an internship in China in the Traditional Chinese Hospitals.

Shyama’s practice of meditation, mindfulness , & Qigong, bring a unique, compassionate, & personal approach to her practice. She offers an integrated approach to balancing the mind, body & spirit so her patients maintain a healthy lifestyle.
She encourages her patients to take a proactive and preventative approach to their health & emotional wellness. She provides guidance & education about diet, mindfulness, lifestyle, & self care. She is committed to supporting them on their healing journey & helping them achieve an optimum quality of life.
Eating whole foods, exercising, meditating, self care and preventative medicine all provide a holistic approach to healthy living. Traditional Chinese Medicine addresses the whole person, by determining and addressing the underlying causes of your health conditions rather than simply addressing the symptoms. This system of medicine truly aligns with Shyama’s philosophy.
APPROACH
Shyama is grateful for the opportunity to serve you using the ancient wisdom of Traditional Chinese Medicine, to restore your body’s balance & enhance your quality of life. Her holistic approach focuses on three main areas: lifestyle/emotional wellness, a healthy diet, and exercise/stress relief.
After completing the consultation process, Shyama will create a customized treatment program. It will consist of Acupuncture, & or Chinese herbal medicine, Cupping, Moxibustion, Electro-stimulation, a Mindfulness,& Wellness program, various dietary changes (seasonal and whole organic foods), and/or various nutritional supplements to help clients achieve optimal health.
INTERESTS
As well as being a busy mom, Shyama spends time with her family & friends, loves the arts & travel. Her past trips to Africa, India, Malaysia, Thailand, China, Hawaii, & Mexico keep her inspired to see other countries in the world! Meditation & yoga, singing, playing music & being in nature keep her grounded & calm throughout her very busy days. She currently practices in Victoria, BC.
